Septic Pumping
We are often asked how often a septic tank or cesspool should be pumped. The short answer is it depends. No tank is the same as the next and a properly maintained tank directly effects your entire septic system, not only the tank. The health of your septic system is influenced by many factors. With every service we always do a visual inspection of all septic components, the thickness of the sludge and scum layers, and visually inspect for soap, paint, fats/oils, etc. We also note how well the tank is digesting – an indicator if the balance of good bacteria is off.
Based on this visual inspection and the age of your system we will make a recommendation on how frequently you should pump. Pumping at the right interval for your septic system is key to its longevity.
